My 645 1000s has started draining batteries. I thought it might be the PD
meter but it is still eating batteries with the meter removed.

Any ideas??

Check for corrosion between 2 battery contacts that might be bridging the
circuit.  That would be the only easy possibility.

Contacts are clean.

I suspect the circuit board may be shot since there is a constant current
load..and the battery check light has quit as well as the B shutter speed..

Could be the release switch also.

I suspected the switch first off and changed out the solenoid. The rest of
the release switch is mechanical.

I've located a body that is working except the curtains are shot and will
remove the circuit assembly and give it a try..

Did you check the battery check switch.?  Make sure the lower contact is not
pushed against the body casting.

Checked that also. In fact I checked out all of the switches/contacts. I even
checked the wiring to make sure none was shorting out..
