Shutterblade has 500cm bodies for about $200! Backs for about $100.

What's going on?

Over the years, large numbers of Hasselblad bodies and lenses were
bought by amateur photographers who already owned 35mm systems and
wanted to augment them with "something better".

When digital SLRs arrived, much of that market segment bought a DSLR
body that would accept their 35mm lenses.  When DSLRs got better and
cheaper, they bought another digital body, one that was often financed
by selling their medium format gear.  Suddenly there was a glut of
medium format gear on the market.

The result of all this is that an ever smaller number of buyers of
medium format equipment are chasing an ever increasing supply of used
cameras and lenses, most of which are almost unused.  In that
situation, there is only one way for prices to go. That is down, fast!

At some point the supply may begin to reduce, but so will the demand,
so it is difficult to see prices rising significantly any time soon.

People who still shoot film can choose from a wide selection of
bodies, backs and lenses in excellent condition.  I recently replaced
my well used Hasselblad 503CX and three lenses with a brand new in the
box Rolleiflex 6008 Professional and three lenses (two new, one
unmarked) for less than half what the Hasselblad 503CX and three
lenses had cost me ... and they were used when I bought them!  With a
16 MP digital back I now have the option of shooting digital and film.
I am delighted with both the sheer quality of the outfit and how
little it cost me.  I was lucky - I got a good price for the
Hasselblad gear too, so my cash outlay was minimal.

Used ones do seem to be coming down. New ones are as pricey as ever.
