Hi,
I recently bought an used mamia rb 67 pro, which I have had a great time
with in the studio.
However now I would like starting to use it for landscape photography.
Therefore I could really need the mirror lockup feature of the cammera.
However I understand that I need a double-release cable for this? I was
wondering what this excactly do? Is it not possible to get the mirror
lockup functioning without this cable? Or will have I to find it on ebay
or
something similar?
Best regards,

The double cable release is convenient, but you can use two plain cable
releases. After turning the knob around the socket at the lens the
shutter will release only using this socket. You can use one cable
release at the camera for MLU and the second at the lens for the
shutter. You could even release the camera with the finger, but this
will give more vibrations.

The extra vibration added to the mirror slap on the RB from using your
finger on the release button is minor. Besides, you're using MLU to
let the camera settle anyway before tripping the lens shutter. It's
not like you have to wait an extra 30 seconds for your "finger
vibration" to die down.
To the OP: The double cable is purely for convenience. I just use a
standard release attached to the lens shutter, and press the mirror
release by hand. It's an extra motion, but it works just as well.
If you do want a double cable, just go here:

Good evening,
1.You need at least one cable to go in the side of the lens. As has already
been said, the double release is a non-essential extra.
2. I have taken to using Air Bulb releases instead of wire cable, (x2 is
often slightly more convenient than groping for the release under the front
of the body), easily obtainable second-hand).
3.Simply cut the desired length off the huge (20 feet?) coil of tubing. You
can simply reconnect if you wanted a long distance.
4.Ensure that the mirror release socket in the lens DOES screw back down when
you remove the cable release, or you get a VERY blank film next time you try
using it without Mirror-Lock .
While on the subject of the necessity of using Mirror-Lock on the RB67 :
Without wishing to hi-jack the topic of the thread, has anyone tried reducing,
eg quartering or better, the embarassingly ostentatious force with which the
mirror bangs up? You can feel the tripod legs shake! Is it really
necessary to the function of the camera?
Alastair.
