I buy it from BH, usually enough rolls (say 10, 20, 30) to last a
half year or more.  I get it processed locally.  Processing only
(no prints) for $3.50, and they do a beautiful job on C41.

I've never found any film bargains on eBay, the stuff on eBay is usually
"Rare" (discontinued) "Classic" (discontinued and short-dated) or
"Collectable" (expired and probably fogged).  Also shipping is higher and
there is usually no warranty.  On current 120 film B&H beats eBay everytime
both on price and shipping costs.  And there are places out there that can
beat B&H's prices.

I still try to buy film on eBay but I have the B&H site open in another
window and set my maximum bids at 50% of B&H prices if I am buying
short-dated film without warranty.  If it's a dealer I'll go 75% if I have
dealt with them before and I always check feedback.

Buy it: local (Vancouver/Seattle/Portland) pro photography
stores. B&H. Freestyle.

Process it: myself. You're quibbling over a buck?!

EBay: yes. You can get amazing bargains, like last
year when I bought 200-odd rolls of slide film for $40
(outdated, but at that price I can screw around...um,
be really creative with it).

You can get junk. Caveat emptor!

No ebay.

Buy 120 from lots of places. Mostly get it from one of the local
independents, but I will buy from B&H or Adorama if I need to. Nothing
against the the NY dealers; I just enjoy the interaction of going in the
local store & digging it out of the fridge for myself, chattin' with the
guys behind the counter.

It also lets me browse for possible goodies that have been taken in
trade (like an 4x5 Orbit Monorail w/Symmar 210/370 f/5.6 & case I picked
up last Friday ... for $350).

Small tank process B&W myself. E-6 I take to a local prolab.

I buy 120 (and 35mm) from either www.mx2.com or www.photoglossy.com,
whichever has the better offer at the time, and have it processed at
www.transpacolor.com.

Velvia 100 is currently about GBP 3.00 and the processing is GBP 3.34
whether it's transparency, colour neg or black and white (push or pull is
GBP 1.65 extra). Incidentally, Transpacolor do 35mm processing (unmounted)
for GBP 4.20 - so 120 is considerably cheaper.

I have bought short-dated color slide and negative roll film on ebay
both on auctions and from buy now offers to keep it refrigerated and
frozen. The German ebay sellers are very reliable.

In Austria, we have only one large color processing lab left, but the
prices for b/w or C-41 or E-6 processing are moderate (Eur 2,50 for
premium processing) at a major drugstore chain offering standard
processing in a German lab or premium processing in the Austrian lab
(Kodak has closed its Vienna lab in 2004).

I too, purchase my film from B&H.  I process the film (E-6) with my Jobo
processor.
