Q about the "thingie" in the mount of a P6 Sonnar 180mm

It has got me puzzled. In the mount you can see the rod that gets
pushed in so that the lens is wide open until you press the shutter.
But there is another thing as well with a slot in the middle that
changes position with the aperture. But it doesn't seem to link to
anything inside the Pentacon 6TL. It is the only other thing poking out
the back so should be easy enough to stop. What does it do?

Pentacon made an adaptor to mount P6 lenses on the Praktica "electric"
35 mm cameras (VLC x, PLC x). The device you describe is used by this
adaptor to signal the aperture set at the lens to the camera's meter
circuit.
