Hi all, I have a Microtek FilmScan 35 film scanner, and I got a problem.
When I try to scan the scanning head advances steadily but on I got evenly
spaced stripes on the scanned image. Besides, when the scanning head goes
back it goes noticeably slower and produces a scratching noise, loud enough
to make me worried it's breaking. Has someone experienced similar problems?
Thank you
Sergio

Sergio you're on a Medium Format news group.

But since I might know a bit about your problem
I'll chime in.  First of all I'm not quite sure
what model Microtek you're talking about -- 35LE,
35t, or 35t+, or maybe some other?  Is this a
dedicated film scanner or a flatbed with a film-
strip adaptor?  Can you point us at a picture of
the scanner, or more info about the scanner?

Is it a new scanner or used?  If it's new, consider
returning it.

The scanner shouldn't be making any bad noises
(that said, my Microtek 2500 scares me some times!)

Could you post a JPG of what a bad scan looks like?

I honestly have never seen the problem you're
describing.

Hi Rafe, your answer is fast as lightning. I considered if I was off-topic,
but I know many medium format photographers use film scanner...I should have
used rec.photo.equipment.35mm...
And yes, maybe an image would help clarify the problem. The scanner box says
just 'FilmScan 35', I'll check the manual and repost when I got all infos.
Thanks for your answer anyway.
Bye,
Sergio

Actually a better place than either here or there would be
comp.periphs.scanners.
