Buying Contax from Hong Kong

Hi,
I wish to know if there is any custom/duty charges buying from Hong Kong to
US.
I live in Spain, and as in the European Union there is a lot of taxes, I'm
thinking about buying from one of those reputable dealers on ebay. And send
the lens to a friend that live in Denver. He could bring me the lens when he
came here for holidays.

in theory, yes, there is a custom duty - around 3 to 5% is typical on most
camera bodies and lenses IIRC, see http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/hongkong.html
on buying overseas to USA; but a fairly large % of packages are not
assessed custom duties, so it varys.

Why don't you want to pay the taxes? You benefit from them! What a cheap-a.s!
