I need help choosing a photo destination. For the last 4-5 years, my
wife and I have spent our vacation in Glacier Nat'l Park. We love the
place, but we're also looking for some new terrain. Our two picks are:
-Puskaskwa (the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario)
-Canadian rockies (Banff, Jasper, etc)
Puskaskwa is fairly close and I assume it's similar to the MN north
shore. This is my wife's pick since it's less driving (and her back
doesn't like driving) but still scenic (we assume).
My pick is Banff and Jasper because I really like Glacier, and I
assume the Canadian rockies will be more of the same. It's a full two
days of driving, maybe three shorter days, so that's a factor. We have
about 2 weeks.
I prefer LF photography, but my wife shoots 35. Neither of us attempts
to shoot wildlife. Give us rocks, water and trees, and we're
happy...although Moab is nice in the spring. (Grin)
Any suggestions?

I spent the week-before-last at the Isacc Walton Inn in Glacier. Just
curious - have you been there? The manager is a former professional
photographer.

No, I haven't been there, except that I blew threw Essex one year on
my way from West to East Glacier. I believe they also have some really
fine xc skiing in the winter.

My vote would be for the Canadian Rockies.
Jasper and Banff... the road between them
is the best part.

Hi,
I have been lucky to live in every province and visit just about every
corner of this country.
Banff/Jasper is insane - I live for 5 years in Yoho park. It is crammed with
tourists and the light in summer months is really harsh. The mountains have
been 'done to death.' although you will have a great time. Fall and early
spring are the times tehre for me.
North shore of Lake Superior sounds really great.
For my money though I highly recommend the Great Northwestern Peninsula of
Newfoundland. The drive is not all that long, the scenery en route is great
and once you get there ... trees, rocks, water, fjords, fantastic light,
moose, mosquitos, great food, fish, etc. Stunning.
Although Lake Superior sounds great as well.
Just checked - NFLD may be a tad far from Minnesota. I loved Nortehrn
Minnesota - coldest I have been in my life was sleeping outside in late
February tehre. A real weird wet cold.
The Canadian Shield in Northern Superior is great. Listen to Gordon
Lightfoot and Stan Rogers.
I was there a couple of weeks ago - splendid.
Although - make it to Newfoundland before too long. Really stunnng.

Everyone who's vacationed on the east Canadian coast gushes and raves about
it. Lots of greenery during the summer. Lots of shoreline beauty as well.

Ontario is ablaze with colorful foliage in the fall. Also many older
buildings and homesteads to photograph....lots of running water
too...(creeks and such).

Check out the Okanagan area during the summer (interior British Columbia).
They have orchards and hay fields nestled in meadows much like winery
country in Italy. And while you're close to the west coast, go to Victoria
on the Island and see the Butchart Gardens. If you don't believe
me...google the "Butchart Gardens" for photographs.
On your way, check out my back yard :-) in Saskatchewan.

I'm from Michigan, and Lake Superior is beautiful, but not exactly awe
inspiring (unless you're swimming in it!). Given my druthers, I'd take the
Canadian rockies, any day. But then, I can drive to Lake Superior in 5
hours or slightly less...

Fly to Seattle and drive to Jasper, via Yoho.
