tells us that 405 ppi is the highest resolution for the model 5000.

Durst Lambda is 400 ppi.
Inkjet has higher resolution, but is dithered rather than continuous tone.

Lambda's can be printed at my lab using 200 or 400 ppi files.
I would guess the operator can set it where ever but uses 200 or 400
from convience? or because they are optimal settings.

These are hardware determined resolutions. Other resolutions would be driver
converted (with losses) to 200 or 400 ppi, so it is better to do it yourself
and sharpen the end result before feeding it to the printer. Make sure to
specify 400 ppi output, because 200 ppi is faster and the operator might be
tempted...
