"MORE than 700 jobs in Cheshire [England] were today at risk after
photographic products maker Ilford Imaging was put into administration.
No job losses have been announced yet at the company, founded in 1879.
Three partners from the Manchester office of accountancy firm
Grant Thornton are conducting a review of the business, which they
will try to sell as a going concern. Should they fail, the company will
be put into receivership and finally into liquidation."

Seriously, I have been wondering when Ilford would run into trouble. They don't have the recognition in the public
that Kodak and Fuji enjoy, nor the marketing power. I would imagine that some other company would be willing to
acquire those assets, though maybe not in one grouping. I think only Fuji might actually have the money and
interest in the B/W films to buy the entire company.

Outside of Fuji purchasing Ilford in total, a liquidation would make the assets available in a split up form to
Forte, Efke, Lucky Film (China), or a few other companies. Just a guess, but I think liquidation of Ilford would
be cheaper for some companies to gain a few nice products.

Quite the shame as this is the year of the 125th anniversary of Ilford. They were set to attend PhotoKina as well,
though I now wonder if they will skip that.

Ciao!
