best fine grain col neg for scanning ?

I'm sure this is a well discussed question, but my search of google groups
doesn't turn up the answer.

What is the best fine grain 35mm col negative film for scanning

I want to use col neg instead of my usual 100 asa col transparency because:
1. I'm financially pinched and cant afford the transparency and the process
cost
2. I am looking for a lower contrast image as I'll be shooting in some harsh
light

As for now, I would suggest Fuji Reala 100.

I had some very pleasing results with Fuji Reala. Extremely easy to scan.

    I like Royal Gold 200 (which is now sold as High Definition 200 in
Europe). Here is an example:

In high res scans (2800 dpi) the grain holds up very well.

capture a color checker and do some color reproduction studies

Portra 160NC indexed at 100 is very sharp and scans very easilly.
