Just wondering if anyone has tried Mystic after the ownership change?
I used to like their 5X7 proofing and haven't really found a proper
alternative but haven't yet given the new outfit a try....

I only tried it a couple times after the ownership change.  It looks like
they are sending their work to York labs.  In my opinion, the quality has
gone down from what it used to be, but it is better than what York usually
puts out under their own name.  No more Agfa paper either, Kodak is what you
get now (just an observation, not a value judgement).

I've sent a few rolls since then.  The machine prints used
to be good, in terms of color and contrast; the ones I've
gotten back since the ownership change range from good to
awful--I'm guessing there's nobody working the machine who
knows how to, or cares to, adjust the prints the way Mystic
used to do.

For slides, it's one step above "dismal." Cheap crappy
cardboard mounts, slides falling out of them, slides that
are dusty and even scratched.  AWFUL.  Oh--and on one roll,
there were some where the numbers were clearly out of
sequence.  How do you do THAT?  I thought it was entirely
automatic.

Anyway, I get MUCH better service and pretty similar
prices from a drugstore near my house; they put in a 1-hr
machine for prints, they send the slides out.  I won't
be using "Mystic" any more, until pigs fly.  :-(

JMHO.  YMMV.  (But I bet it won't)
