Does anybody know of a  source for this stuff? I know a couple of
US places carry it but with a shipping rate that makes it a non-starter.
Somebody in Canada must handle this.

How about this:

Fuji:

http://www.fujifilm.ca/WhereToBuy/WhereToBuy.asp?sectionID=160&parentID=6

there are 3 locations listed, one in Richmond BC, one in Mississauga ON,
and one in St Laurent QC.

Kodak Canada has Cinematography listed on it's web site under
professional products.  You can probably call their sales department for
where you can buy it.

The last time I tried getting sales info from a film company. That was

If you don't have much luck, try a film production company, tell them
what your planning on using the film for, be very nice, your really
asking for a favour.  They will either have film pieces that are not
long enough for them to economically use, or they will have a supplier,
then you contact the supplier and work up the chain until you find where
you can get what you want.
