Has anybody used the RCR-V3 lithium pack in place of two AA batteries?

I've just learned that something called a RCR-V3 (rechargeable lithium pack)
can replace the two AA batteries in certain cameras. Has anybody tried this,
and if so, what camera and how did it perform as compared with NiMH
batteries?

Here's a short blurb on the subject if you're interested:

Thanks.

Just don't do it, some have a slightly higher voltage and are unregulated
and will blow up your wee beasty. Get some Sanyo Eneloop NiMh's (or similar
hybrid) instead.

Let me add to Pete's response. I've had a set of 4 eneloops for what
will be 2 years come September. I've only charged them once - obviously
I'm an infrequent shooter. Apart from Pete's reasons for not doing it,
there just isn't a cost justification. No doubt the mah rating on the
Lithiums is higher - so if over 600 shots using an A95 is insufficient
get two sets of eneloops. Self discharge is a non-issue. Anyone who
wants to quibble about usability after a year without a charge is doing
just that - quibbling.

My main gripe against AA's is merely the inconvenience of having to keep
track of the charge of any particular battery. With a "pack", I only have to
know that it's charged or it's not. That's all.

Certainly, the open circuit voltage of a lithium is higher than that of a
pair of alkalines, and it's something to be concerned with. However, some
cameras' power supplies are made to handle the 3.7V of the lithium. It's
really a matter of if the camera manufacturer supports the CR-V3 and RCR-V3.

I hadn't heard of Eneloop. The technical paper is very interesting:

In my Pentax Ds I now use non rechargeable CR-V3's, as it is my second
camera it gets little use and they last for ages anyway.

Haven't heard of Eneloop?  What desert island have you been living on?
It has been a regular topic here since they came out.  Well worth
reading about.  HiMH the way it SHOULD have been all along.

The Isle of Lucy.

I've used them exclusively with both of my Pentaxes.

Completely trouble-free, last *forever* (well, maybe a little less then
"forever"), don't self-discharge.

Absolutely brilliant.

I can't compare them with eneloops (never used them) but they are much
better than the NiMHs I use in my flash and other P&Ss.
