LOL! Old news since this has been posted and discussed to death on
Dpreview.

And no, as much as I loved the old Mk III and didn't experience the AF
problems with it, I found it illogical to keep it because Canon doesn't make
a useable lens system to go with it. I found the 500/4L IS to be mediocre
at best. And sadly Canon has yet to make a decent WA lens. The Mk III is a
sweet camera that got a bad rap because of a small sampling of defective
units. Canon's denial and stall tactics for two months is what blown it out
of proportion. Amazingly enough most Canon shooters have sold their Mk IIIs
in favor of the D3. I'm extremely pleased with my D3. You?

Nah, I rarely shoot any action, so one of the high speed sports/PJ cams
isn't for me. I'll stick with my 5D and G9. BTW, Canon does make some decent
wide angles, they just seem to stick the names "Leica" and "Zeiss" on them.
Until I find a better alternative, I'll keep my seldom-used but very good
17-40. The 24-105 is my main lens.
