Ok i hope this got your attention..haha
i am not into camera Lingo..i have no idea what all them DSL or senser
numers mean..i tried reading the post about camera reccomendations but
got so confused when you all were talking about them levels and sensers
and etc..
I have a sanyo digital camera 6 MP..
i am taking it back..it goes through batteries about every 10 photos..i
couldnt believe that i had changed my batteries 3 times to just snap a
few photos..i was so mad..
then the camera kept turning off constantly..so i give up with
this..
I went online last night in search of a a easy point and shoot camera
that i could use that had a charger or dock on it so i dont have to do
batteries..my old 3 megapixels has a dock and i love it but i want to
move up on my pixels now..
can anyone suggest a reasonalble priced camera that has a charger
instead of batteries..
i looked at so many and i see most use batteries now..
would appreciate some insight please..keep it simple cause i dont
understand camera lingo..
i want at least a 6mp .
thanks...cathy

what kind of batteries? if they're ordinarly alkaline batteries,
that's not all that surprising. try rechargable batteries instead, and
you should see substantially better battery life.

Actually, many alkalines give more service life than a rechargable
between charges. Yes, the rechargable last much longer in total, but
not between recharges.
I would also take back a camera that only lasted ten shots per
battery. I have some that take non-rechargable batteries, and
generally get a couple hundred between replacements.
There ARE very cheap cameras that do not use flash cards or flash
memories, and these things eat batteries this way. But not the better
Sanyo ones. It sounds like a defective camera to me.
Oh, make sure it turns off after you are done shooting. The LCD
screen is a battery hog, so make sure it is OFF between shooting
sessions.

that depends on the device it's in. digital cameras generally have
high current demands and alkaline batteries will only last for a few
photos. the batteries aren't really exhausted, and can continue to be
used for other devices such as tape players, cd players, toys,
flashlights, etc.
nimh rechargables and lithium aa batteries will result in a lot more
photos in the same camera.

That alkaline statement may have been true in earlier cameras, but the
canon A95 manual claims between 150 and 500 shots depending on lcd usage
and I would expect similar on other models. I tested but gave up after
about 130 shots. I wouldn't hold my breath on the 500 number I did get
more than that with Eneloops over a short period. This seems to drop to
about 350 over a 1 year period which I feel vindicates the claims made
for this type.
Rechargeable Lithium will give more, but this isn't an option if the
camera comes with AA's. The throw away Lithium are quite expensive, I've
never tried them but they may be a good option to carry as spares.

I'm going to ignore my nagging suspicions and assume this post is for real.
A camera that uses AA batteries as I assume your's does should take
hundreds of shots using rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you tend to take
many shots fairly rapidly (less than a month), the high capacity types
will do well. If you use the camera intermittently, the new Eneloop are
excellent and will hold a charge for well over a year (I know, I use
them). Ritz camera carry these. I use a charger that will charge and
monitor individual cells from
http://www.greenbatteries.com/nibachwilcdd.html, their prices are very
reasonable. A more expensive but highly recommended selection is
available from Thomas Distributing who carry the MaHA. All department
stores carry a variety of other types that will work ok but tend to not
charge cells individually. I like the latter since I use a single AAA in
my mp3 player.

As a follow up, first when I responded I was the first to do so. I agree
good Alkalines should give many shots, I got well over a hundred in my
A95, then took them out before they were exhausted.
I took a another look at the sites I recommended and see everyone and
their brother is now marketing low discharge NiMH. I don't know if they
are all as good as Eneloop, I believe Sanyo is licensing this technology
to others.

What do you think the charger would be charging? Maybe a BATTERY.

The KODAK cameras interface with a 'dock' - it does charging and printing
(if it's a printer dock). Try the Kodak online store.

All modern Cameras use batteries.
If you want a simple but good Compact have a look at the Canon Selphy Range,
(SD in the model names).
They use a Li-ion type battery, and come complete with a charger
specifcally for it.
You do need to remove the battery from the camera in order to charge it, but
it should easily do several hundred photos on one charge

The Kodak docks recharge the battery while it is still in the camera.

Could it be you're using ordinary alkaline batteries? Or NiMH? NiMH are
the recommended ones for digitals.

A few days ago, she reported getting a new camera that doesn't "use
batteries". So, at least in her outlook, this has been resolved.

Maybe then it's powered from dark energy?
