I haven't had a girl for about 10 years now and I thought I'd head down to
a nude beach 30 miles or so away to take some snaps for personal use and
possibly publication (if they are good)

Legal Questions:

1. Is it against the law to take snaps and movies.
2. Is it against the law to hide my camera.
3. Will ppl attack me.
4. Can I publish the snaps.

Thanks, friends!

No. But if it's private, the owners can control who is allowed to do
so.

If you're nude, question is where would you hide it?

>3. Will ppl attack me.

Quite possibly.

With written permission of those involved.
It's best you don't go in the first day with a camera in hand. Get to
know the people first before ya go doing that. But if it's a public
beach, hey man, it's fair game.

Question is: why would you bother?

Seriously, nude beaches are not all they are cracked up to be. 95% of
the people you wish would put on some more clothes on. And for the 5%
you actually want to see naked, bikinis these days are so revealing
anyway, what does it matter?

Besides, the internet is saturated with nude photos. What's the point?

Actually, the rule is:  If you can see it, you can take a picture of
it....unless it's a restricted military/government site.  I can stand on
public land and take pictures of anything I see....the only think you will
have a problem with is if you use an extreme telephoto lens to take pictures
of something you normally wouldn't be able to see with the naked eye.

In some cases, yes, it is.

Or, you can use photo editing software to blur the faces...making written
permission unnecessary.

As with anything, check your state/local privacy laws beforehand.

With Scientology OT 9 x-ray vision powers you won't need to go to a
nude beach
With Dianetics CLEAR perfect memory powers you won't need photos

that will be $450,000 in small unmarked bills

One thing for sure.  Most people look better with their clothes on.
I would suggest ... alt.binaries  as a news group treasure trove.

More important than the legal questions is the likely and possibly
distressingly illegal response of big strong nude people to the
presence of a clothed person on a nude beach, especially a clothed
cameraman. So you'll have to conceal the camera while nude. I get the
impression you haven't been using your brains to think about this.

Well, we know where he'll be hiding it ... as soon as he removes his head.

Not unless there is a local ordinance that prohibits photos and movies on
this beach.

Yes, for non-commercial purposes.

This answer must not be relied on as legal advice for the reasons posted

Apparently you haven't heard of the doctor who hid his camera in his
bathroom and examining room, and saved videos of his patients in the
nude....  You must have been  his lawyer when he installed the
cameras....

I don't know, let's see....  Kick that 500lb Sumo Wrestler in the

observe his response....

Thank God for that!  People have been arrested for doing less than
your advising!

If you are in a public place and are photographing someone in a public
place, you can hide your camera all you want. It's perfectly legal, as there
is no expectation of privacy in a public place.

I wouldn't want to make such a blanket statement, considering that
various political subdivisions have vastly different laws concerning
personal privacy.  Even in the US, there are variations among the
states, and local laws may further complicate the situation.  If you
don't believe this, just go to a public park and try taking a lot of
pictures of the kids on the swings and 'jungle gyms'.

The point of being in a public place seems to be pretty much
pointless, because the cameras where taken away by a security guard,
there fore apparently the place was not a "public" place....

In the USA/CND they'll smash your camera and/or face. In Europe very
few will mind.
All beaches are public places up to the hig water line, in both cases,
and ppl cannot legally object. However, to publish the pix legally,
you'll need signed model releases. Polite and wise thing is to get
permission beforehand. Many photo- and videographers hang out at
Black's Bch, San Diego CA, unmolested. And forget picking up chix on a
nude beach. Mostly gay men around on US nude beaches. They might pick
YOU up ;-).

I have seen a few photos of some 80-90 yr old women on some nude
beaches.... I suppose they're at a few beaches....

Since when? A model release is required only when you are using a person's
image or likeness to endorse a product. Publishing for the purposes of news,
commentary, and other non-commercial purposes is perfectly fine.

How are the clauses before and after the first "and" related?  The plan
expressed in the second clause will do absolutely nothing to solve the
problem expressed in the first clause.

You're into 75-year old women with saggy tits? No wonder you
can't get any.

If all you think of women is some sex toy for your w.nking pleasures,
then I'm not surprised why you haven't had a g/f for the last 10
years.  Get with the programme, buddy!

> Legal Questions:
>

Depends on the place.  If it's on a public nude beach owned by the
government, legally you can.

> 2. Is it against the law to hide my camera.

If you're nude, where would you hide it?  At a nude beach carnival
near where I live, some guy got busted by the organisers of a sports
day because his camcorder was found in a polystyrene esky (a container
used to chill beer and soft drinks) with a hole cut in the side for
the lens to poke out of whilst filming the nudists.  So, not
recommended.

> 3. Will ppl attack me.

Depends on what types they are.  Nudists range from the hillbilly
redneck techno and cameraphobe who'll chuck it in the ocean, to those
who'll have a quiet word with you about your credentials as a
photographer.  You could sue anyone for wilful property damage if they
chuck your camera in the sea even if you haven't taken any photos.  I
think nudists do need to universally work on their public image
because this behaviour could work against them.

> 4. Can I publish the snaps.

Only if you provide your subjects with a release form.  The other
better way to do it is if you've got some dosh to burn then hire a
professional nude model and take her to a beach with you to get some
snaps for your spank off collection.
Easy!
