All I have to say is, DAMN! The superior bokeh of the Formidable 500 is
simply smooth and beyond creamy orgasmic. I hope Canon is taking notes.
Just a resize for web in CS3.

Or at least get the friggin' NOSE is focus. This isn't a romantic portrait.
Well, in Rita's case - maybe...

Stop complaining, you got exactly what you paid for.

It's the same shot as before...

Hey, don't blame me. It's all them killfiles malfunctioning at the same
time. For as many people that claim to have me killfiled I get an extremely
large amount of hits. Either their piss ant browser is malfunctioning or we
have a bunch of liars.

Why not use a site that doesn't have a limit?

Bloody moron. Featureless background and as noted by others, you've
screwed up the focal plane/dof like the incompetent w.nker that you
are - was he moving too fast for you, dear?
Here's Rita's *earlier* example showing the awful bokeh from this
absolute dog of a lens - she didn't even notice it before posting:
http://www.geocities.com/ritaberk2007/holding_your_ground.htm
But of course there's little point visiting it, because as soon as
'Rita' exceeds her two visits per day limit, Geocities closes her
down. Just as well for our eyes, I think.
Anyway, it's also just as well that lens is a rental. Although
clearly, it doesn't matter what equipment 'she' holds, she just posts
more rubbish...

It's a shame really.... all Rita's effort to blow wind up Nikon's a.s
and it gets sucked right back out every time she post's an image.
LOL !!

I must agree that I would like the nose tip in focus as well but this
picture as it is draw ones attention to the pup's eyes which is the
centre of focus.
I love the bokeh! Is this the new VR version of the 500? I have some
profit sharing coming in February. If it is enough, I am going to get a
Nikkor 500/f4 with VR. Thanks for sharing. -G

Yep, that was the intension as I was testing out the D3's focusing ability.

Thanks! It's a sweet lens. No, this is the <AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4D IF-ED
II> which is the previous version. I very rarely use VR anyway and I need
it less now with the D3's high-ISO performance. This lens is easily
handheld, even with the D200. I got a decent deal on this lens so it would
have been foolish for me to not take it.

the 199$ S3 IS take better picture than that. You should read some books
about photography instead of spending money on a DSLR.

I agree. All this equipment fetishism by someone whose photographic skills
are exceeded by by the capabilities of a cardboard disposible camera.

Poor Remy. It is sad when a dog gets blurry eyes at such a young age.
Geez, maybe I will have to go to friggin Baltimore just to get a sharp
pic of the mutt. Then I'll watch The Mighty Jewel whip his butt.

You can add me to the list of the unimpressed.
Hell, the right eye is sharp, while the left is
a bit off.
Anyway, who uses geocities freebie sites anymore?

It is what it is. The lens focused where I wanted it to. You gotta love
that razor thin DoF and creamy bokeh of the 500/4 Nikkor.
> Anyway, who uses geocities freebie sites anymore?
You got what you paid for. Oh, paid customers get to go the "better" site.
Just a note, even if you paid $500 for me to put up a Usenet approved site
for the purpose of stimulating the idiots I wouldn't, it's against the
rules. So enjoy the lovely Geocities.
