can anyone explain to me what a truncated file is.
i have a canon powershot a700 camera. after i took pictures they came
on my playback as a corrupt file .
When i downloaded them to my computer they showed as beingeither a
truncated file or a corrupte file.
i would llike to know what i did wrong taking the pics.
Some of my othr pictures were fine taken at the same time.
Any advice would be appreciated. thank you.

Truncated means simply to chop the end off. In your case that's bad - I
would guess that your memory card has been screwed up.

I know this is a no brainer, but to be thorough I thought I would mention
that two other possible causes of truncated images are turning off the
camera before the entire image has been written, or low battery charge so
the voltage drops below minimum durring the write process. Either one would
cut off the end of the file. I know both of these may be obvious to most of
us, but the possibilities should be noted anyway.
