Nikon Coolpix lcd weird color problems

The camera lcd screen on the back is displaying weird colours and
distorted pictures. When a photo is taken the image is very weird in
colours and horizontal lines when displayed on the CD (not matching
what was shown in viewfinder when taken) and the photo itself on the
computer is also distorted. Lens is OK.
Have checked all menu settings and butons, reset CF card, but still no
luck
ANY IDEAS?

One of coolpix buyer is having the same problem and I have laid down
the same problem above. Any Help from anyone

Sounds to me like a problem with the electronics that power the sensor, or
the sensor itself.

Sounds like the Sony CCD problem. I'd check out Nikon's website and see
if there's a recall. I have no idea if Sony makes Nikon's CCDs.

Hopefully Nikon is better at honoring the recall than Sony is. I've put
in to get my camcorder fixed 3x, website promises 10 days to respond,
but it's been three months since the first request.
