Need help with photo slideshow quality

I'm new at trying slideshow software to display photos with transitions
and music. This is really neat but the quality of the photos is not as
good as viewing the same photos by hooking up the camera to the tv. The
tv is a new Toshiba hd crt.

I'm trying ProShow Gold demo software which many have praised and I
just installed an hp dvd burner so am burning the slideshow to a dvd-r.

My photos are typically 1984x1488.

When creating the dvd, the software says "Video 720x480 MPEG II". Is
this reducing the resolution?

Are my expectations too high in asking for the picture quality to be
the same when hooking the camera to the tv as when playing the dvd?

Should I try other slideshow software?

Thank you for any replies.

Yes

Yes. A TV screen has only about 500 lines vertical resolution. The
current technology does not provide more.

It shouldn't be the tv because I compare the same photos with my camera
hooked to the tv (great pictures) versus playing the slideshow on the
dvd to the same tv (fair quality).

This must be what's happenning. The image is being reduced from
1984x1488 to 720x480 when playing the dvd slideshow. I'll call Photodex
and confirm this.

Michael, thank you for the reply.
