I am thinking of replacing my Sony Multiscan 500PS with Sony PremierePro
SDM-P234/B. I have read some reports that it has slight issues with
color continuity, color noise and also common LCD issues like not deep
enough black, etc. Would I be happy with such a move?

I think the state of the art LCD's do nicely.  Demonstrated
by Apple, one of the leaders in graphics manipulation,
marketing only LCD's these days.  Sony stopped manufacturing
CRT's.  CRT's are also disappearing from store shelves, and
on-line stores.  There seems to be a surplus of LCD's right
now, which is driving the prices down, so shop around.  You
could find as much as a $200.00 price variance, on the same
model!

When I switched to my Samsung 192N, 19" LCD, I never looked
back.  Plus, getting all that heat out of my office, was great!

The next screen is certainly a LCD. I am just wondering if this LCD is
good enough for graphics. I am in need of one extra monitor. I can
either get this 23" widescreen and upgrade or just get a 17" for now and
wait for the technology to improve.

Seems to be a wide range of opinion on this topic, see another thread
on the same subject that's still active.

This maybe of interest, comments on LCD quality from a well-known
custom lab that *has* to have accurate previews or else they can't
match up with what their customers are seeing ... they feel that for
really accurate results only the high-end LCDs are color-accurate
enough ...
