Close-up lens filter on FZ20?

I'm looking at some filters on B&H, and I've come across (what seems
like!) a cool toy that would improve macro photography.  Would this
fit, using the adapter tube?

I'm not sure whether the FZ20 takes a standard filter at all.  Panasonic
offer an ND filter named DMW-LND72, which suggests a 72mm thread and not
the 52mm thread of the lens you listed.  I would check carefully before
buying - ideally take your camera into the shop.

I'm basing the 52mm filter on the Raynox Lens Adapter Tube for the FZ10
and FZ20 -

Is this not correct?

I don't know the Raynox kit, but I would agree with you as the B&H page
includes the specification: "The Raynox Lens Adapter Tube provides a 52mm
filter mount for adding Telephoto, Macro & Wide Angle lenses to the
Panasonic DMC-FZ10 & FZ20 Digital Camera."

I would still be cautious about this combination.
The external thread on the FZ20 is 64mm
The Raynox adapter is a REDUCER that allows the FZ20 to accept a 52 mm
filter lens.
However, I would expect to see some vignetting, perhaps serious, with
this size close up lens.

Please notice that the external thread of FZ20 is precisely an external
thread, and that the actual lens diameter is less. I haven't got my
camera at hand when posting, but I'd expect the actual lens diameter to
be something around 57-58 mm. I use a Soligor achromatic +3 PRO closeup
lens with this adapter on my FZ20. The short DOF is a bitch to master,
and I can't say I'm really there yet, but that's an intrinsic property
of any +3 closeup lens. (I've realised after the fact that I have more
need of a +1,5 closeup lens than of a +3. Next item on purchase list,
after wide-angle converter.)

Thus, I see lots of bugs with the wrong body parts in focus in my
pictures. OTOH,  I don't notice any vignetting.

Yes, it would, it "the adapter tube" is Raynox's RT6452. Good and
sturdy adapter, incidentally.
