Low light comparative Pics?

I am looking for images that show the same indoor (or low light) scene
taken with a DSLR and a P&S cam. Obviously without flash. The purpose
is to examine the difference in noise levels as a result of the larger
sensor - so the aperture and shutter speeds also have to be the same.

Any sites spring to mind?

You might visit DPReview.  They often do comparisons of different
cameras, although I'm not sure if they would have a comparison on a
P&S verses a semi pro system.
There are a lot of other factors that play in to a comparison like
that.

For some good info on comparing sensor performance, see Roger N. Clark's
website at:

I should have appended "other than dpreview.com"  to the "any sites
sprigt to mind".

Thanks Dudley, while I had given up on Clark for being too technical,
one page on that site offering a side by side comparison of the
results of a D70 and a Mark1 was enlightening enough. Though the
subject of the review was  sensor pixel size, the difference in noise
levels quite vividly conveyed.

The comparison is directly useful for comparing sensor sizes, but for
comparing pixel sizes, the article can lead to false conclusions, because
one can very easily forget to remember or realize (and most people do fail
to) that pixel size is a relevant issue only when you are considering
images composed of the same number of pixels.

Sounds like you're looking for arguments to use on your wife to justify buying
a new DSLR.  ;^)

For low-light work, how about the new Canon XSi (450D) with the Sigma 30mm
f/1.4? That won't set you back too much.
