When using in-camera exposure compensation (say -0.7), and then
auto-bracketing (say -1.0,0,+1.0) ----- Is the zero setting in
Auto-Bracketing equivalent to the -0.7 exposure compensation that the
camera is set to? Or does the zero in Auto-Bracketing equal the default
0 (ie - no exposure compensation) exposure setting for the camera. In
other words, does using Auto-Bracketing override any setting you make in
the overall exposure compensation for the camera? (I hope that's
clear....)
Thanks.

As I recall in the "Pro" Nikon DSLR bodies the starting point for the
bracketing series would be whatever you had set on the exposure compensation
and that would be carried through the bracketing series (that assumes the
bracketing series was set to start at 0 adjustment). The exposure
compensation is added to each of the bracketing adjustments.
I assume the D80 would do the same.

The bracketing is about the compensation ... it's the new '0' if you will.

Thanks to both of you.
