Has anyone used this lens on a D70? If so, how do you like it?

Thank you

Yes, but I paid $100 less for it. A good deal at that price, a ripoff at
the Adorama price.

Personally, from my reading, the 70-300D is a better lens (the one I decided
to buy)

That lens sells for $189.99cdn  in Ottawa, Canada, so the price is high.

Looking again, the reason for the high price is that it includes a
camera bag with room for camera and "3-4 lenses".

I'd go elsewhere and get just the lens.

Hmmmm,
G series lens is El Cheapo.

Not true, G series means there is no aperture ring.  The Nikkor
70-200/AF-S VR G at $1700 is not "El Cheapo" and the optics are some of
the best ever built by Nikon.  The 12-24 AF-S DX G is also a great lens
at $1,000 and built quite well....Not to mention the 18-70 G/AF-S which
is an excellent performer.  There are dogs that are G series lenses, but
not all G series  lenses are "El Cheapo"

I've seen very little difference in the images from the G and the ED
models. I've shot some outstanding pictures with a G on a D70.

Nope.  The 12-24mm, for example, is a G.

It's *obnoxious*; but it's not applied only to their cheap lenses.

I can see the logic in the case of digital-only lenses, though.
There's no real need for an aperture ring because those lenses won't
work on the older cameras anyway.  Incidentally, when I changed to a
new Nikon I continued to use the aperture ring for a year or so, and
then I switched.  The new system is better, I'm sure.

Andrew.

True, there's no digital body so far that lacks the means to adjust
the aperture of a G lens.  Unfortunately I think the Sigma 12-24 is
like that too, and it *does* cover 35mm.

I've got 5 Nikon film bodies; 4 of them have no ability to control the
aperture from the body, 1 can do it but only in a couple of
auto-exposure modes, not in manual.  Plus my Fuji S2, which does of
course.  I find it annoying.

Sigma does 12mm at 35mm format? Wow.

That was it. Done. The faulty Monk was turned out into the desert where it
could believe what it liked, including the idea that it had been hard done
by. It was allowed to keep its horse, since horses were so cheap to make.

The specs say so and other people report it, so yes.  I only tested it
on my Fuji S2, so I can't actually report it of my own knowledge (I
had the load of one for 24hrs, and mostly I just used it).

Go for it, but get it from B&H; it's a lot cheaper there.

I have the D series version, which has similar if not identical
optics.  It's a great lens.  At the 300 end of the range, it's
almost a macro lens; I got a wonderful picture of one of my cats
sleeping, with D70, SB800, and the 70-300.  You can count the
hairs all over the cat's face; it's very, very sharp.

Thanks to all who replied. I think I will get it.
