What would a depth of field plugin for Photoshop do?

Yeah... I know the one.
Wether or not you can drill a hole deep enough in your monitor to hold the
tape is another thing entirely...

Keep the image on your computer screen sharp while your
head moves forward and back?

It would allow you to retouch the image to make the subject more in focus
by blurring the background and foreground to a controlled degree.

So, like, hit 'q,' paint a gradient, hit 'q' again, run a blur filter.
No plugin needed.

Doesn't work. Sure, you can blur top or bottom, or one side or the other, but
that does not simulate making the depth of field shallower. All it does is
blur part of the picture, with both near and far objects at the same part of
the gradient being blurred equally. Big whoop.

Cj I agree with you completely.  I'm looking for a more believable effect.

This will work fine where the image recedes summat uniformly from one
side or the other.

Works when it recedes radially, too - remember gradients can be radial
as well as linear.

Sorry, forgot the smiley, lest you take me seriously...

How would it work fine if objects at the same distance from the camera as
the subject were not in focus but the subject was.
You obviously don't understand depth of field.

That is one impressive plug-in. The gallery is well worth visiting.
