For some reason the counter in the display on my EOS-350D stays at "999" despite taking new shots, but only in the "green" and other "automatic" modes. In the "creative" modes I believe it advances. I'll bet that you have it set to RAW+JPG. When you switch to the creative zone, it will only do JPG, so the camera will (rightly) assume that you have room for 3, 4, or 5 times as many shots. steve >>> It only has three digits, it can't display anything larger. Ah!! yes, that's right. I do in fact shoot RAW+JPG, but not quite having learnt how to use a flash properly in creative zone I tend to switch over to "green box" mode in those situations. Silly me! I could easily have set it to "P" mode instead, where I do get RAW+JPG in addition to automatic flash settings. .... and now the number has changed to "969" in the preset modes. Set the quality back to high. It's likely been set to small, and has room for more shots than the three digits can show. Normal.
