How do I reset the file number in a Pentax K10D?

Hi,

I recently bought a Pentax K10D. I could not find a way
to reset the file number. I reset everything, but that didn't
affect the file number. Does anybody now whether that's
possible and how?

Background: I bought a Pentax *ist D about 3 years ago.
It numbers the pictures like this: imgp0001.jpg, imgp0002.jpg,...
I reset this number every year. That's easy with the *ist D, see
"Resetting the File Number" in the manual.
I couldn't find anything like this for the K10D.

Thanks, Stephan

I don't have a K10D, but all of the digital cameras I've used in the
last few years have had an option in the menu somewhere to set the file
numbers to sequential or none or reset, or something along those lines.
Perhaps in the custom menu settings?

Maybe you can download a PDF file of the manual and do a keyword search.

Personally I prefer to have the file number count up sequentially in
order to make it easier to keep track of the number of frames shot on
the camera.

The procedure on the K10D is just like that on the *ist D.
See the note on p200 of the K10D manual.

Thanks!

I thought there was an easier way for the *ist D to reset it just
once and not whenever you insert a card, but you are right,
that's the only way to do it for either camera.
I simply switch back to sequential after inserting a new card
and have the effect I want.

Thanks, Stephan
