I am thinking of starting a personal camera collection. I know that there is a 'rarity' range, or index, that is used to assess the rarity of various models, but, I cannot find it on the net. Does anyone here know if there is a common set that is used. Or does each manufacturer develop their own,

Google for collectible cameras and you will get lots of hits.
Most people into digital photography END UP with a "camera collection" due
to their belief that "ugrades" are always necessary. :)

You almost hit the nail on the head! I've just bought on ebay 3 cameras from
that I have lost from my youth. So now have to get models back.
Current film cams include Chinon CX, Pentax ME super, Pentax Super A,
Minolta d 5000, a couple of old box cams and somewhere, an old 110 instant.
This is Before I started to think of collecting!
Oh, and a Chinon super 8 sound movie cam.
Digitals are Canon G5 - super camera, and an Olympus E500.
awaiting arrived is a Lubitel 2, Werra 2 and a brownie 127.
