help! i'm considering buying a used A40 but it has no software - can
the software be obtained elsewhere? i note that you can download
drivers from the canon site - is this enough to get my pc, running on
w2000 to recognise and transfer images from the camera? i've already
got good enough manipulation software (photoshop) so the only thing i
really need is for the computer to recognise the camera. any advice
greatly appreciated!

It isn't a dSLR so you asked in the wrong News Group.
In the future, please ask questions on this camera @ alt.photography
The software on Canon's web site is all that's needed.
