Hi,

I am looking for a cheap & light super wide prime lens to use with my
30d. Did any third party ever make a prime that I could find on the
used market? I just wanted to know before I sunk some money into one of
the zoom options, which I don't really care for.

Thanks!

No such thing I think, at least not if you are looking for rectilinear
lenses. Fisheye, yes, but that's a differetn kettle of fish altogether.

Bite the bullet and get a Sigma 10-20 (good) or Canon EF-S 10-22 (better) or
some such beast. Buy second-hand if you don't want to sink a lot of money
into the experiment; if you find that ultrawides are not your thing you
should be able to sell it on for about as much as you gave for it.

Go with the Canon.  I've used it enough that I can say that my opinion
is that if it wasn't an EF-S lens, and with the exception of the lack
of additional weatherproofing, they'd have probably made it a L series
lens (I doubt they will ever classify an EF-S as an L, just "because").

Thanks guys,

I bought the 17-55 as am all in one, but was hoping for some fun wide
goofy shots on the cheap. (and I love my little camera bag)

I'll think about it for a while.

Tor out.

'fraid not, if we're talking rectilinear.

I've compiled a page listing all the ultrawode zooms, with pointers to
reviews online: http://hannemyr.com/photo/uwaz.html .
