Nikon DX2 firmware upgrade issue

Anybody (apart from me, that is) having issues with the upgrade of the
firmware from 1.01 to 2.0?

The "B" firmware updates ok, but after trying to update the "A" firmware
(running all instructions as per the Nikon web site), this remains as 1.01.

I have e-mailled Nikon support;  just wondering if anything I can do
(apart from not using the camera, of course), whilst waiting for the reply.

Sounds like the typical Nikon upgrade issue of not explicitly following the
instructions and copying BOTH firmware upgrades to the card together. You
need to have only the A upgrade on the card to upgrade it.

Well, he wasn't the first, was he? And he won't be the last.

Thanks for the comment, but they are both on the card and were both
copied together (dragged across). Any other suggestions?

Precisely - read the post again. "You need to have only the A upgrade
on the card to upgrade it."    (Hint - you have both when you should
only have one)

Yes, READ my original reply again and think about what was written.
Specifically the very last sentence in the material you quoted from my
response.

That's exactly what you aren't supposed to do.  The instructions say to
do the A firmware first, then the B firmware, in two separate operations.
Doing them both together will have the result you are seeing.

Try starting over.  Do just the A firmware.  Then remove it and do just
the B firmware.  Hopefully it will still work.

Start over? How? The B upgrade is all ready done. Just delete it from the
card and then do the A upgrade.

Given that you're meant to do them in order, I'd also then do the B again
to be on the safe side.  Probably won't matter, though.

I have tried that before. It will not offer to upgrade firmware that
has already been upgraded, so you can't do the B again. It doesn't
matter.

That is your problem right there. Only one of the firmware upgrades can
be on the card at a time or it won't work. Delete the B upgrade and you
will be able to install the A upgrade. No one knows why Nikon does it
this way.

Thanks guys for all for the replies.  I get it now (I hope!).
