I've got a Nikon D50 with the extra 55 - 200 lens......at present it's
rattling around in my old camcorder bag.

Can anyone suggest a decent bag for this......i'm sort of looking at the
Topload Zoom 2 made by LOWEPRO but was wondering if things might get a bit
tight, say with an extra battery etc.

I did take my camera into jessops today with a view to trying my stuff
inside one.....but the bu**ers had sold out and I am sort of lost.

My budget ...about £50 ish.

Any help appreciated.

Dave :)

Hi Dave!

I have a Nikon D200.  I chose Lowepro's Nova 3 AW.  It holds a lot of gear,
but it's not too big.  You can carry it by the handle on top, a shoulder
strap that's long enough to go across your chest, not just hang on your
shoulder, or you can hang it on your belt (but might be a little big and
heavy for that.  It also has an all-weather rain-proof cover that pulls out
of a zipped compartment, and stretches over the bag.  Excellent design, made
well, and inexpensive.

You might want to also check out the Tamrac Zoom Pro 7
(I spent a while in the local camera shop playing with both
the 7 and the 9 for my D70s with a 300mm lens and finally
ended up with the 9, but the D50 is a bit smaller and the
200 is a bit smaller.
http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm  it is the
Model 5627, "Pro Digital Zoom 7"  (how come they never
advertise a "Amateur Digital Zoom" case ???

Thanks for the help Mike....
Im off to have a look on wed. pm ...I might go for the '9' just for the
extra space ...but both look good to me.

Cheers
Dave :)

Mike......I've spotted the Pro 9 for under £37, can you confirm that you can
get the body with a 55mm lens and also the zoom lens.
I think this will all fit fine, as well as my spare battery and a few
filters but the adverts arent exactly clear. Most seem to be "lifted" from
other adverts.

Thanks again..
Dave :)

I have the D70s which is a bit bigger than the D50 I believe.
I have the Sigma 70-300 lens that sticks out about 5 inches
from the lens mount for a total camera depth of about
8 inches.  I added a piece of 1-1/2" foam at the bottom of
the case to add a little extra padding and help keep the
camera a bit looser in the case for my grubby fingers to
get around.  Still leaves an inch or so at the top for the
strap to go.  Note the dimension on the lens is when it
is on infinity at the 70mm position.

I've been happy with this one for 2 years, and it's under your budget:

It can be gripped, shouldered, or belted.  It holds an SLR with a
typical short zoom, at least 1 spare lens (e.g., long zoom), and all the
accessories you'd typically need for a casual shoot.  It's "big enough"
but small enough not to get cluttered with junk.

If you drop in the SLR with the hood extended on a short zoom, it's a
snug fit but it will zip.  A long zoom won't fit if it's on the body.

Cheers,
Richard

I have several bags but find my Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home works well
just for walking around snapping.

I have a Tenba D15 with a D70 and a couple of zoom lenses, SB600 ,
chargers etc

It is a nice bag. I have the C version so I can slide the Powerbook in
the back.  The only problem is the rivets holding the straps on are a
bit naff and one lot broke.  So I am replacing them with bolts.   Apart
from that it is a great bag.

Thanks for the info Chris.....for some reason I really fancy one of the Zoom
type bags that can accomodate the camera and a few bits n pieces including
at least one extra lens...

The Tenba D15 isn't wide available here in the UK.....I googled and found
only one mention.

Cheers again

Chris....I stand corrected.....I re-googled and there's loads of em'

Not sure why they weren't there when I looked last nite but as i'm
re-installing PC after a major failure then that might have something to do
with it.

Cheers again

If you get one check the rivets holding on the straps. Apart from that
they are very good bags.  They even have an attached rain cover. V
useful for the UK  :-)
