I just purchased a D50 and am not used to the whole digital camera thing.
Are there any good books out there that go beyond camera basics but help in
taking pictures with digital cameras? Specifically the D50?

I suggest getting a general book about basic photography, a D-SLR is a great
way to learn and experiment without having to pay for processing. You local
library will have shelves full I would think, even older books will have the
basics for you.

I bought the Dewnnis Curtin Book "A Short Course in Nikon D50
Photography" from Amazon. It is 8 1/2" X 11" book that has a spiral
bonding (for laying flat while using it) and a CD ROM (in color) to
use on your computer. The book is in B&W.
It covers all functions that are available on the camera. A very good
book to learn its use.
I paid about $40 plus shipping - well worth it!
It is available through an Amazon associate.
Google the title and pick the Amazon listing (top of the list).
