Hi,

I work in a small food shop. We decided to build a Photo archive for
use in advertisment etc. 2 proff photographer gave prices which were
three times as we had in budjet. As we couldn't afford this expence I
accepted to do the job and another guy accepted to lend me his photo
gear for the job.
The camera is a Nicon D2x, dpeedlight SB-800, And SU800 with the flash
kit for macro job. I decided to use SB-800 off the camera. In remote
the flash seems to illimiunate less than on top of the camera. So,
with the flash on camera I can get clearer photos. I managed to get
nice shots from chocklates, olives, cheeses,  medicines, bread etc.
but  the effect of the flash on meat is ugly. Bottles ar even worse.
Anyone has experience photographing fresh meat and bottles outside a
studio? I thought I may buy some lights or refelctor or soft box or
whatever to helpme get photos without flash sign on them. it's now a
week I am looking to lighting  systems but got eventually lost in the
jungle of equipments. Can you help me? I need a simple kit which is
easily portable and effective.

BTW, as mentioned the Nikon gear is borrowed. i am now waiting to get
the new Pentax K10D.

Thanks in advance

Same old story.  Budget built with no input from reality.  Reconsider using
those with some basic experience.

Use diffused light sources and bounce flash and shoot like crazy and, maybe,
you'll get something acceptable.

maybe the pro thought that experience and all the tricks
which he already knew and can do was worth some money.

how many tries, and how many hours will you spend,
before you get the really good shots?

add up that cost.

and none of the pros will choose the pentax.
