Which is why I asked on the 25th September in "Anything going on with
D200 ??" thread. It wan't a case of (just ?) being out of stock
because Jessops usually list expected restock dates online. Perhaps
it is to push folk to the D80 - new model, possibly better margins and
volume sales.
For those outside the UK - Jessops is the largest retail chain of
photographic stores in the UK as well as selling online.
BTW - did they have them in stock in Bristol??
Regards.

Knowing them as i do it is quite likely they don't have any and they are
hard to get hold of. So much easier to fob off the customer with a blatant
lie. Otherwise the salesman would have to spend the day on the phone
tracking one down from other stores. One of the flagship stores may hav
stock of D200. They are designated highest priority and you are not allowed
to commandeer one for your own shop. the one in the london area is in
oxford street. shop id is 121 if i remember correctly.

I rang the "world Cewntre" one in New Oxford Street last Monday. THe
week before they had 6 or 8 in the window but no 18-70 lenses. THis
week they had the lens but not the body and rang around 4 other London
stores with no result. Other retailers have them in or are expecting
delivery next week. The strange thing is that they have gone from the
onlinbe catalogue. Other products out odf stock show "back order"
status with an expected time scale to restocking.

Bribbs Causeway had 5 in stock- - but were told by Nikon not to sell any. I
think there is an issue / price quarrel going on between Nikon & Jessops,
Here's a lot more on this subject.
