There is a new firmware release (v 2.0.0) for Nikon's D200.

Issues addressed with firmware version 2.0.0
1.. Image authentication item has been added to the setup menu. The
optional Image Authentication software is required to authenticate images.
2.. A Wireless transmitter item has been added to the setup menu.  This
item is available only when the optional Wireless Transmitter WT-3 is
connected to the camera.

What is "Image authentication"?
"Permits verification via a personal computer as to whether an image has
been processed or edited after it was taken."

I am wondering the same thing. At a minimum, it should mean that there is
something like a digital signature that will indicate if the image file has
been modified in any way. Does it include any additional attributes such as
the serial number of the camera, time/date info, or camera settings?

What does the software do?

All of which are encrypted using an MD5 checksum.

This means that photographers from now on must improve their technique and
not rely on Photoshop as a crutch.  This is a good thing for
photojournalists and forensics.  It's not needed for the average user so
it's a waste of time worrying about it.  On a side note, anyone that posts
images on the internet should strip *ALL* EXIF information from their posted
images.  This protects original photographer from copyright infringers since
they won't have access to this data to alter and claim the image as their
own.

The software is an evidential tool to show whether or not evidential
images are being shown as taken or have been "tampered" with
afterward.

An example -  suspect shown with a handgun.  Defence claims it was
placed in the digital image after the event.  This software will prove
or disprove the allegation.

Canon has similar software.

A number of people have commented that VR at least with the 18-200 and
possibly 80-400 improves. I just updated and did note an improvement in
VR at least in view finder for 18-200 and a different sound with its
activation.

It has also been reported that the AF-ON button on the vertical grip
not functioning with some Sigma lenses have been corrected.

Good, because I just ordered the 30mm 1.4.
