Had a shutter go on a Leica on a trip. didn't realize it til I got
back. Had 2 backs but 1/4 of my pics were gone. It was a 35 year old
M2, my fault 'cause it hadn't been in a shop for 10. Even the classics
have problems. But the more complex the more problems, but at least
yopu can chimp with a digital.

Before I send my flakey *ist-DS off for repair, I've ordered a K110D body
as an interim camera before the rumored Pentax "pro" model (to follow the
K10D) reaches the market. The K110D is very inexpensive thanks to NOT
having image stabilization... thus one less thing to break down or get
out of adjustment. And the K-series models offer a preview function to
let you chimp BEFORE you fire the shutter. Ricehigh's review of the
K100D persuaded me the K-series _may_ be better than my DS.
FYI in the late 1950s I too had a Leica M2... you could feel the
precision quality :^)

I think you had best go back and read the detail about what you think the
preview does!!
