Jay-

Almost too much, for comment that'd mean something. Why not pick a
specific gallery and ask for comments?

I agree there's too much in here, but my other comment would be you have
some awesome images in here if you don't mind a little work with PS.
There's one of a lion with some fencing in the background.  Get rid of the
fencing and that's an awesome image, IMHO.  You'll never get a shot like
that in the wild, but remove the fencing and it's a one in a million shot.

You know, a lot of people will say that fireworks photos are cliche.
However, your fireworks *index* page, just by itself, is oddly
effective. Individually they're all technically very good, put not
especially exciting, but all together like that is really interesting.

I may have to revisit my own fireworks photos (cliche they might be,
but I like taking them too!) and see what I can do with some
compositing.

I know what you mean ...

Of course I _have_ a couple Ls, and try as I might I can't seem to
squeeze out striking images the way Jay does.

Jay:

I'm happy to see someone else is less interested in on-track car
portraits than in the person aspects of NASCAR.

One beautiful morning we spent at the Sedona airport cafe and overlook
was quite memorable; cameraless at that time, I hadn't been able to
convey the wonder and joy of it; now I can show the non-believers.

Thanks for all the opportunities.

I'd like to take that Gray cat off your hands!  I have a black one already.

Nice pictures by the way!

Jay,

All those great shots can't just be luck.  There were so many good
ones, I can't remember them all.  I thought the portraits were great
and sharp as I have ever seen.  I loved Severe Beauty and Red Rock...
and Say Again.

I'm new to digital, but not to photograhpy.  I still use my F5 and
haven't gotten a D80 or D200 yet.

You have a good eye, and really, that's what a lot of it is all
about. You are a great capturer but the pictures in that gallery don't
turn the real into the surreal.  Maybe that is another area to pursue,
pictures that make you think in all different directions, like Eric's
Stormy Landscape, that Bridge at night that someone presented and
Macro Passion Flower.

However, I don't know that I have ever seen sharper photos than those
that you present. I wish I could do what you do and I bet many others
would too.

Alan

I think you have a great eye.  On 21 Sep 2006 23:27:23 -0700, "Jay B"
