Seeing another thread gave me the gall (or should that be balls) to
suggest the following:
I'm fairly new to this group and quite new to the world of DSLR. I'm a
complete amateur but I like taking photos.

So here's my (current) favourite picture for all to see (and no doubt
rip to shreds)
http://picasaweb.google.com/doc.hfuhruhurr/Devon/photo#4976808097527824402

Anyone else care to post their favourite DSLR pic?

regards

Hartland Quay - I was there just a few days after your visit - it's a great
place for taking photos!

Wow. looks like the weather changed from when I visited.
I'll put some more up when I can be arsed, but I agree about it being a
great place and I took far too many photos :-)

I'd crop out the reflection due to the filter or whatever at the top of
the image.
Other than that, it's not bad.

In response to "One picture that sums up what you like about
photography" I would suggest any published shot by Joe Cornish, the
British landscape photographer.

But he doesn't use a DSLR.  He uses an Ebony 4"x5" large format film
camera with Schneider lenses.  There is no DSLR that can approach, let
alone equal, the quality of results obtainable with that equipment,
and Joe Cornish is truly a master.

The shot you linked to shows burnt out highlights that are typical of
a DSLR.  They would have been avoidable had a low contrast negative
film been used.  But I agree, it is an attractive image.

Hey Doc,

Commendations on putting up the photo for all to see. I've considered
doing it but I "haven't gotten around to it yet". Having said that let me
offer a few(constructive, I hope) comments.

Shooting directly into the sun demands too much from your camera's
dynamic range. The rocks don't have much detail because the sun on the water
will be completely blown out at a longer exposure. I'm sure your eyes saw
some great scenery, your camera just doesn't match them.

This one speaks to me; 'course it's like the fishtank filters -- I can
hear the voices but I'm not sure what they are saying.

I think that one says he couldn't find a restroom...and settled for a bush.

I'm rather pleased with this photo, though it was taken with my newish ZLR
(Panasonic FZ7)!
