Hi,
Despite all I have read about the theory, I'm still unsure how exactly
to set-up my camera.  Can someone please advise how I should configure
my 300D to achieve this effect either with speedlite or on-board flash.

Thanks in anticipation

You'll need 3rd party firmward for the 300D to do this I *think*.
It's set in a custom function.

"The Wasia hack" used to be all the rage, but what is the 3rd party
firmware folks finally settled on for the 300D?   I recall there were
some competitors to Wasia but lost track of the story.

Best Regards,

You have to hack your cam. From what I've heard, Undutchables is a
little bit more enhanced than Wasia. Go to
http://www.chrislongley.com/firmware.htm for both hacks.

I use the Undutchables hack, and 2nd curtain sync is not available on
the 300D - nor with the Wasia hack either.  The camera can't do it.

Are you using the latest version of Undutchable's (0.2.3)? According to
the pdf enclosed in the zip, custom function 15 enables 2nd curtain sync.
As I don't have a 300D myself, I cannot test it for myself, so if you
are actually using the latest version, I'll take your word for it.

Yes. I have 0.2.3.  If you look at that custom function list in that
.pdf you will see that some functions have a tick beside them - they are
the usable ones.  Those with a small 'x' do not function even though
they are in the CF table, and 2nd curtain sync has an 'x'.  I was a bit
bummed out about it as well, as I wanted to do some slow exposures with
2nd curtain sync.  I'll have to see about getting a 30D, I guess.

Oops... I should have read a little bit better. Thanks anyway for taking
the time to explain something I should have read.
