It doesn't look like Olympus' anti-dust works very well, either.  I sure
wouldn't trust it by itself.

The anti-dust "shake" techniques are very ineffective at best, and a
marketing gimmick at worst.

If you want a clean sensor, you have to take steps to clean it manually
(just like it says in the manual for the Olympus cameras).

I had an Olympus E300 and then an Olympus E500 and found the dust
removal system to be very effective.  I never had to clean the sensor.

Did you ever bother checking the sensor?  Thought not.

But that doesn't really mean anything.

Have you done a small aperture test image to see what's on the sensor?

If so, perhaps you had a clean sensor to begin with and haven't made it
dirty, just like my Rebel XT. It was very clean when I bought it, and
I've only had to do very basic maintenance to keep it clean.

My friends D70s which I use a lot was spotless and has never needed more
than a blower to keep it clean. His D200 was 100% when he bought it, and
so far he hasn't had a need to touch the sensor.

Some people obsess over a clean sensor, while the smart ones get out and
shoot.

If you don't change lenses often,
If you don't check for dust (small aperture, oof, light BG)

then it isn't put to the test.

Don't top post.

At best it buys you some extra time.
