I love my new canon camera. It takes amazing pictures compared to the
powershot A50.

I have posted a couple hundred of pictures I have taken with my new
camera on my site.

Enjoy

Interesting.  I guess editing is a lost art.  Perhaps if your site
worked on more than one browser and if you cut down to your best shots
maybe your Google whoring would do better.

Loosely translated: "GT thinks you should have restricted the shots on your
website to only the best ones, and he thinks that you had an ulterior motive
in making your post".

The word "amazing" obviously means different things to different people.
I'm not amazed by a very ordinary set of far far too many snapshots
presented in an irritating flash site.

Once you've learnt how to use your DSLR properly the next lesson you need to
learn is: be more selective.

But I'm wasting my words aren't I - you just wanted Adwords cents.

S/he is doing a lot better with their DSLR than you're doing in the "tact
and deplomacy" department.

You never have a kind word to say about anything or anyone - it must be very
sad being such a negative, cynical person, living in a world where so many
fail to meet your high expectations.

Hmm....   one picture is worth a thousand words...
you managed to make the contrary true
A thousand pictures are not worth one single word.

Forest Wanderer - thank you for the opportunity to share and enjoy some of
your shots.

Please try to ignore and forgive the few negative minded "poo-poos" here -
if their butts were on fire and you put it out with a garden hose they'd
moan that the water was too cold. I'm sure they don't mean to be offensive -
it's just that with being so negative all they time after a while all they
can do is focus on negative things.

I think you've got a good eye for composition & exposure - and later on I
think you'll learn to get even more striking results in post-processing.

Well done :)

Listen Mr Southern
If somebody posts in a public forum he must be open to either praise
and/or criticism.
Art is mainly a work of selection.
Select the subject, select the framing, select the light, select the
shot etc etc etc..
When you go to a contest you don't bring 200 pictures along ,you pick
one that you think is the best. That is where your artistic skills come
into play, in the selection thing.
This first very basic step is now gone missing because of compulsive
people
with a dslr on their hands posting hundreds if not thousands
of meaningless shots asking us to make the work for them.
...And, yes , you know what you have to do with that hose, don't you?
And don't forget to moan.

Wow...you told him, didn't you?

I'm quite confident that CJ will be much more abusive in the future,
after that stern warning.

When I grow up...I want to be just like you.

The OP said that he put them up for our enjoyment, not for our critique. If
you didn't have anything nice to say about them, why not just say nothing?
If there are too many for your liking why not just ignore them?

Who says that he's created the site just to have his work appraised by us
experts - more than likely it's just his online album.

He's come along with something he's proud of - and good on him for it. All
negativity achieves is to lower his self confidence and helps to turn him
into a critical and negative person ...

... much like you actually.

What utter rot.  If you post a link to your pictures you must be prepared to
expect negative as well as positive comments.

More rubbish.  It may well be his online album, but by posting news of it
here he is opening the door to all types of comment.  I suspect that, more
accurately, he posted it here to get his Adword revenue.  Note that he
hasn't responded to any postings since he made the original one.

Balderdash.  Criticism - negative or positive - will help him improve his
work.  It might help him to produce something he can be even prouder of.

Utter rot be damned. Any civil person would offer constructive criticism
when asked, and at other times such as this do the polite thing and keep
their mouth shut if there's nothing of value for them at the end of the link
offered. It seems to me - having watched your postings for a year or two
now - that you just like to seize any opportunity to put people down -
always assuming the negative - seldom contributing anything worthwhile (and
yes, that applies to your photoshop posts as well).

First, out of habit you say "more rubbish" then in the very few words you
agree with me. Then you go on to repeat what you said before - and then
(like clockwork) you flog the same old (tired) "he's got an ulterior motive
for posting the link" wagon. Can't you - just for once - accept something in
good faith? Honestly, if I'd wanted to hear your opinion I would have gone
and flushed the dunny. Even if he were posting it for personal gain, who
cares? - if you don't want to go there then there's no gun being held to
your head - if you do go there there's no one making you stay - and if you
get some value out of the pictures there then it doesn't cost you anything.

No - there are ways to criticise - many of the poor examples given by others
here will do nothing but undermine someones confidence and make him (and
others) think we're just a pack off a.sholes. Nothing good comes from this
kind of petty back-stabbing. Case in point - is this negative criticism of
you going to change your attitude or actions or help you improve in any way?
Not a chance.

Well, if he's proud of them then he should edit them, present them in a way
that more viewers can see them, and skip the Google whoring.

Or alternatively he could do what he liked with his site, and we could
exercise our rights to skip as many as we wanted.

Yes, all of them which I will do the next time he pimps his google whoring
site here as he does quite often in other groups:

"You are welcome to use the pictures free according to our policy and you
can set up a link to our sites main index page it may help your visitors if
your site is related to photography. I will trade links also if your site is
photo related."

Maybe next time we'll be even luckier and he will provide us with a sermon:

"You are exactly right I am a nut. I am crazy about my saviour. I don't
expect the world to understand. He is not to be understood but
believed.

'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher
than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.'

You see I have been Born again in the spirit of God almighty. This is a
supernatural event that only happens through belief and faith.

The world makes comments and jokes about Christ and you have no factual
proof of evolution or that Christ was not the Son of GOD.

God is all about Love and giving, but there will be a day of reckoning
and judgement. Christ made a new covenant when HE WILLINGLY died on the
Cross. HE made it possible for all who believe and call on His name to
be saved.

I want you or whoever reads this to understand that you cannot dispute
that the Holy Spirit exists and that God is alive once you have had an
actual experience with Him in a supernatural form as I have had and
continue to have.

It is all about faith that He is. If you have never actually even
scientifically read the bible and studied Christianity then you have no
proof that it is not real. You only have your own vain comments and
ideas.

Anyone who seriously studies Christianity to try and disprove it. Will
guess what???? Get saved and Born again."

Actually, I read each and every comment from all of the postings to
discern if people like the photos and if any are potential Friends. Not
that it matters it is just a hobby to me. I want to learn all I can. I
have always been an eager learner. This is a new hobby to me.

The first photos were from a canon powershot A 50. I am just now
learning how to use photo impact to edit the photos from the Digital
Rebel. If you notice some of the other photos have some post
processing. Whether it is professional quality that is another story.
;-)

But I enjoy seeing discussions and learning from online communities. I
have very little experience or time outside of my full time job to take
pictures and do any website development. I do make a couple cents from
google adsense but have yet to get a check in the past year. You have
to get up to $100 first. I have made a wopping $30 in a year from my
site. I am not really concerned about clicks.

Yes, I am a Fundamental Old Fasioned Gospel Preacher and I am not
ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

That is what initially inspired me to begin the site. Named after the
Song "How Great Thou ART"

God has replaced my old dead sinful habits (as any unborn again has)
with photography of HIS creation. What better way to witness over the
net than to show people "that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath
made us, and not we ourselves". Look at how big everything is to us and
how powerful God is.

What I think is amazing is that God's Holy WORD says "we, according to
his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth
righteousness"

This earth is cursed hence the sin, briars, pestilence, hate, envy,
strife. It is to be expected for people who are under the curse to hate
and ridicule righteousness as they did Jesus. Even the very mentione of
Jesus's name and evil flares up. That's one reason why I know ALL that
HE said is true and real. Jesus wore the Curse, hence the crown of
thorns. So you could be saved.

All I can do is pray for those who are burdened down from sin and
hatred. I once was also and I now do not hate those who persecute me
but have compassion because I once was lost but now I am found by the
grace of God.

The most important message anyone needs to hear is that Your good works
and righteousness is filthy rags compared to Jesus and God almighty.
Christ came and died on the Cross. Everyone knows that HE was
crucified. Everyone has the Law (ten commandments) written in their
heart.

Everyone has an appointment with a fleshly death..... EVERYONE.

What do you have to lose by simply accepting the Righteous gift of
salvation from God through Jesus???

Each and everyone who reads this message has something in their past to
be ashamed of. But I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for
it is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe, to the Jew
first and also to the greek.

Christ can make you full of HIS joy. Not your Joy but HIS joy.
Happiness is just for a season but Joy is deep inside and cannot be
diminished from just outward circumstances caused by others.

That is what God has to offer you right now and eternal life on the
other side. All it takes is simply believing from your heart.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in
thine heart that God hath raised HIM from the dead thou shalt be
saved!!!

For with the Heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.

For the scripture saith whosoever beliveth in HIM shall not be ashamed.

200 hundred pictures taken in a mechanical fashion and slammed onto
a website are not enjoyable.
It misses  the whole purpose of photography. One picture well taken
gives you the idea
of a moment frozen in time. 200 hundred pictures give the idea that
whoever is holding
the camera just cannot get it.
Photography is supposded to convey in an instant whatever is that you
want to say.

For heaven's sake - how many more times do people have to say this to get
the message through to you: "If you don't find it enjoyable - if you're busy
that day - if you're expecting a nose-bleed in 10 minutes because it's that
time of the month - what-ever the reason - YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THERE,
VIEWING IS OPTIONAL, NOT MANDATORY.

> It misses  the whole purpose of photography. One picture well taken
> gives you the idea

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't - that's your opinion - others may agree or
disagree, but SO WHAT? They were not put up to "give you an idea" - they
were put up for you to enjoy, IF YOU WANTED TO - if you didn't then I'M SURE
THAT THAT'S FINE TOO.

More balony. I think you're a great example of someone who's got so caught
up in all of this "Emotion / Connection" crap that you forget that there are
even more photographers who are just having fun - and trying to share a
little of it. They're not trying to win accolades or awards.

Because that seems to be the level you communicate on. Eg

... not to mention your previous post, addressed to me, where you tell me to

be the one why reads your comments and gives up photography because they

That's like trying to justify you stealing something from my house just
because I left the door unlocked. Yes, I may have left the door unlocked,
but I didn't ask you to burgle me - and it also doesn't give you a mandate
to do it anyway.

How would you feel if you'd just bought your first new house - and proud as
punch you invited people over - and all they did was moan about the stain on
the carpet and fact that the curtains clash with the wallpaper?

In this case someone who's got a shiny new DSLR - has taken a number of
shots - is proud as punch of them, takes a moment to upload them to a
website and makes them available for others to look at IF THEY WISH. He
didn't ask for your opinion - and he didn't hold a gun to your head to make
you wade through each and every one of them.

Nowhere did he mention anything about a contest - nowhere did he ask you to
do anything for him. He's simply shared his work for others to enjoy if they
so wish - if they don't wish then I'm quite sure that that's fine with him
to. No where did he say "I'm entering a contest - here's several hundred
photos - tell me which ones I should enter and what do you think of them"

This group should be about helping and sharing - and yes, constructive
criticism where appropriate - downright negativity for the sheer sake of it
accomplishes nothing except to undermine confidence, and leave the OP with a
feeling of "why the hell did I bother" and "that'll be the last time I ever
share anything with that bunch of a.sholes".

If it's a toss-up between the contributions, attitude and actions of the OP
and those of yourself then I would prefer those of the OP any day of the
week.
