Can someone tell me if this is a good camera and what it is worth? Thanks.

One of Nikon's first pro digital cameras.  Would not be worth much
now-it only has a 2.74 MP sensor and images seem to require more post
processing than newer generation cameras.

I think Nikon admitted that it produced slightly magenta results - not
that that is necessarily the end of the world but its not ideal.

Now I understand better from another of your posts that you are talking
about your own ability, style, and requirements, rather than making any
global claims that histograms, etc. are useless or superfluous for everyone.
You have tried them as intended for sufficiently long to judge that they
don't help you, right? :-)
