Hi,
I underdtand that ED in Nikon lens numbers designates the glass. What is
the difference between ED and ED-IF? I was looking at a f/2.8 AF ED lens
for a D200 and wondering how it would perform on motion shots? Is there are
website that clarifies all this?
Thanks!

IF is internal focus. This means that your fingers won't find the
lens writhing under them as the lens autofocuses.

IF is internal focus, meaning the lens does not change length while
focusing. The AF means the focusing is driven by the camera, not a motor
(AF-S) in the lens itself. An AF lens will not be as fast focusing as an
AF-S lens. Whether or not this matters to you depends upon your intended
subject.
