Hi,

Sorry if this is old news, but I am looking for a wireless shutter
release for the D200.  Range 100 ft. Any vendor will do.

Thanks,

Tien

B&H shows 2 but not with that range. Presumably the Dot-Line brand has
an even shorter cord, still it's hard to justify an additional $90 for
Nikon brand, what could the difference be?

Similar offerings at: http://www.adorama.com they mention specifically
the adorama brand model has a 36-inch cable. Both do not have the Nikon
remote in stock, nor extra batteries.

Thanks but I am looking for a WIRELESS remote shutter release so I can
set up my camera and release the shutter from say 100 ft.

I don`t even know if this is possible but I figure someone must be
using this esp for bird photography.

If you can wait the WT-3 should do what you want, but it will be an
expensive solution requiring a laptop.

Personally I would try a Twin1 R2-SRN for 80 bucks and a Powermid Dual Power
(note the "Dual Power", the regular Powermid needs AC power) remote
extender for about 50 (good luck getting one if you're not in the EU
though--I'd have a British friend pick one up on his next trip).  If it all
works together that should get you your 100 feet.

Can anyone comment further on the wired remote options below? I didn't
like the infrared thing for the D70 and would prefer a wired remote
shutter release.

I also do not understand why such a thing should cost more that $520 it
just clicks the shutter right? Does it do some other magic?

"The Nikon MC-36 Multi-Function remote provides a simple trigger
function and can activate the bulb function on Nikon SLR cameras. It
also functions as a timer remote and can be programmed to function as an
intervalometer. It connects to Nikon SLR cameras that are equipped with
the 10-pin remote socket.

Compatible with: D2 series, D1 series, D200, D100, F6, F5, F100, and
MC-26 Adapter Cord."

"The remote release allows the camera to be released from a distance.
All electronic, just plug in and use. 36" long, has a momentary release
as well as a locking position for time release"

so except for the intervalometer this should be fine. The camera has an
intervalometer built in the menu.

At the nikonusa.com web site under firmware for the D200 you will find:

4. What will change with the scheduled D200 firmware update?

Primarily, features will be added or modified as described below.

o An "Image authentication" item will be added to the setup menu.

o Support for the optional Wireless Transmitter WT-3 will be added.

[end of excerpt]

Too bad a wire transmitter isn't a wireless shutter.

Thanks!  Almost exactly what I was looking for.  I expected the D200 to
have some reception ability so that I would not need a receiver as
well, but fine, this will do nicely.
