I feel the urge coming up to finally buy a new screen. Currently I have

an 19" CRT but it's getting a little old and small and ... well you
know, ... wouldn't it be great to have a bright, fast, cool 20" or
higher widescreen TFT ? Especially now, when this stuff is more or less

affordable? So, before i'm gonna do something stupid, i'd like to know
which screens photographers are using? Or which screen you're going to
buy in the near future? What brand?  Which size? Contrast ratio?
Brightness? Response time? One big one or two smaller screens?

Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

I have the 20" widescreen (1680 x1050) and find it superb for pretty much
everything - general use, photo work, DVDs etc... HD looks fantastic too.
Can't think of anything bad to say about it - do shop around for best
prices.

Highly recommended... as is the 24"

> Contrast ratio?

Minimum of 500:1

> Brightness?

All are capable of exceeding what you'll turn it down to when you profile
it, so irrelivant

> Response time?

Irrelivant

One big one or two smaller screens?

Or 1 big, 1 small - works well.

Most critical issue is viewing angle - or more specifically how things
change at different angles - biggest downfall of LCD monitors.

We are using dual 24.1inch Sun wide screens with Parhelia cards at the
moment, seem to be pretty good.
