Because my nose can hit the Multi Selector and move my focus point, I
always keep the Focus selector Lock on. When I want to move my focus point
I unlock, but usually the focus point won't move, unless I turn the camera
off and back on again. I have not been able to find a pattern. Is this a
bug?

Looks like you are a candidate for a nose job.... ;-)

How long do you have the metering option set before it turns metering off?
If it's off or the camera is in playback mode you can't change the focus
point. Easiest way to check is half pressing the shutter button and see if
you can then move it.

Whatever the default is.

Yep. That works. Easier than turning it off and on again.

Thanks, Don <www.donwiss.com> (e-mail link at home page bottom).

Now I may have used *that* workaround without even realizing I was
working around a problem.  Hmmm; I'll keep this in mind.

Are you left eyed by any chance?

Try half-pressing the shutter release momentarily to wake up the
metering system.  Once you have done that, you should be able to move
the focus point.  At least, that is how my D70 works.

    Enjoy,

I'd guess; that's why *I* have that problem, anyway.

Huh; I haven't noticed that behavior, and I have the same habit for
the same reason.  I'll watch for it, and play a bit next time I'm
handling the camera.
