The Kenko 300 Pro 1.4x teleconverter for
Canon seems to be out of stock over the
entire country and has been for several
weeks now.  Other Kenko products seem to
be going out of stock as well.

The delay seems longish.

Anyone know what's going on?

Don't know but I got one from Hong Kong.

Any reason you don't want to use the Tamron that a number of sites say is
identical to the Kenko?

Kenko upgraded their line a few months ago.  Did the Tamrons upgrade too
(better coatings)?

It's only the SP Tamrons that were allegedly the same, BTW.

Have no idea.  Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks.  I'll check that out.  I'd not heard that before.

Like most photo products, they are manufactured in batches, not
continuously.  Maybe the last batch sold out slightly quicker than
expected.

Must have.  One might expect it to be sold out in some
popular stores, but it seems to be gone everywhere.  That
takes some time.

By the way, some of our less reputable stores make you go
through the whole ordering procedure before they tell you
that the item is out of stock but will be shipped as soon
as it is available.

By that time you've gone to a lot of work -- especially
since their computer knew it was out of stock when you
looked at it in their on-line catalog.
